Pakungwati Journal of Islamic Law and Society (PJILS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing scholarly inquiry into Islamic law and its dynamic relationship with society. Journal Profile

PJILS approaches Islamic law both as a normative and doctrinal tradition and as a living legal phenomenon shaped by social change, state institutions, customary practices, political processes, and contemporary debates about justice. The journal seeks to connect Islamic legal scholarship with broader developments in law and society.

Particular attention is given to Indonesia and Southeast Asia, while the journal also welcomes studies from other jurisdictions and Muslim societies worldwide. Comparative, transnational, socio-legal, historical, anthropological, doctrinal, and interdisciplinary studies are strongly encouraged.
