Plagiarism Screening Policy

 

JTIL is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics.

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that every manuscript submitted to the Journal of Transformative Islamic Law (JTIL) is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, and other forms of academic misconduct. As part of the editorial quality assurance process, every manuscript undergoes a similarity screening before entering peer review and again prior to publication.

Editorial Assessment The similarity percentage serves only as an initial indicator. Editors evaluate the nature, location, and context of matched text before making an editorial decision.
Forms of Plagiarism

Verbatim Plagiarism

Reproducing another person's words, sentences, paragraphs, tables, or other copyrighted material without proper quotation, attribution, or permission where required.

Source-Based Plagiarism

Presenting another author's ideas, arguments, interpretations, or research findings as one's own by failing to provide accurate and complete citations to the original source.

Self-Plagiarism

Republishing previously published work, submitting substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals, or extensively reusing one's own published material without appropriate acknowledgment. When previously published material is reused, it must be clearly cited, substantially revised, and incorporated into a genuinely new scholarly contribution that provides original analysis, interpretation, or findings.

Editorial Note

A similarity score below 20% does not automatically guarantee acceptance, nor does a score above 20% automatically result in rejection. Editorial decisions are based on the academic context of the similarity report, the originality of the manuscript, the significance of the overlap, and compliance with JTIL's publication ethics.
