Article Publication Process

A transparent editorial workflow from manuscript submission to online publication.

The Journal of Transformative Islamic Law (JTIL) applies a structured editorial and peer-review process to ensure the originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, ethical integrity, and relevance of every published article. All submissions are managed through the journal’s OJS platform.

Publication Stages
1. Preparation 2. Submission 3. Initial Screening 4. Peer Review 5. Decision 6. Revision 7. Acceptance 8. Copyediting 9. Production 10. Publication
Step
01
Manuscript Preparation

Authors prepare the manuscript in accordance with the JTIL Focus and Scope, Author Guidelines, article template, citation style, transliteration system, and publication ethics. The manuscript must be original, complete, anonymous where required, and free from plagiarism or duplicate submission.

Step
02
Online Submission through OJS

The corresponding author submits the manuscript through the JTIL OJS platform and completes all required metadata, including author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers, title, abstract, keywords, references, and supporting files where applicable.

Step
03
Administrative and Editorial Screening

The editorial office checks the completeness of the submission, conformity with the journal template, language quality, citation accuracy, similarity report, ethical compliance, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope. Manuscripts that fail to meet basic requirements may be returned for correction or declined without external review.

Step
04
Double-Anonymous Peer Review

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two qualified reviewers whose expertise corresponds to the subject of the article. JTIL applies a double-anonymous review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another.

Step
05
Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewer reports and the editor’s assessment, one of the following decisions is issued:

Accept Submission Minor Revision Major Revision Decline Submission
Step
06
Author Revision

Authors revise the manuscript carefully in response to the reviewers’ and editor’s comments. The revised manuscript must be accompanied by a point-by-point response explaining each change made or providing a reasoned scholarly response where a suggestion is not adopted. The revised version may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

Step
07
Final Acceptance

A manuscript is formally accepted only after the editor confirms that the authors have adequately addressed the review comments and that the article satisfies JTIL’s scholarly, ethical, linguistic, and technical standards. Acceptance does not exempt the manuscript from subsequent copyediting and production corrections.

Step
08
Copyediting

The accepted manuscript is reviewed for grammar, clarity, consistency, citation style, references, transliteration, legal terminology, tables, figures, and conformity with the journal format. Authors may be contacted to clarify sources, verify data, or approve editorial corrections.

Step
09
Layout, Proofreading, and Author Approval

The copyedited manuscript is formatted into the journal’s publication layout. A proof is sent to the corresponding author for final checking. At this stage, authors should correct only typographical, factual, citation, or production errors; substantial changes to the accepted content are not normally permitted.

Step
10
Online Publication and Dissemination

After final approval, the article is published on the JTIL website as part of a scheduled issue or as an advance publication where applicable. The published article receives complete bibliographic metadata and a DOI when available. Authors are encouraged to update their ORCID, institutional repository, Google Scholar, and other academic profiles with the official article link.

Processing Time

The duration of each stage may vary depending on manuscript quality, reviewer availability, the extent of revisions required, and the authors’ response time. Authors can monitor the status of their submission directly through their OJS account.

Editorial Authority

The Editor-in-Chief and assigned editors retain final responsibility for editorial decisions. Decisions are based on academic merit, relevance to the journal, reviewer recommendations, ethical compliance, and the overall quality of the manuscript.
